This place is awesome. I brought my BMW X3 in today with my boyfriend for an inspection, they gave me honest opinions, brought me into the shop to show me exactly what was wrong with my car, gave me advice, and even recommended an awesome dealership that could help me get out of the situation I’m in. (I forgot the mans name at the front desk) however is a great conversationalist, easy to talk to and joke around with as well. Thanks guys. We will be back.
The owner was friendly and the service was excellent. Ryan took the time to explain the fault code and proactively showed me the defective part. Hopefully I don't have to visit a transmission repair shop in the near future, but if I do I will be returning here.
My story starts when the light turned green and I could not select any gear because of what turned out to be hydraulic failure in the clutch. (Actually, the clutch had been giving me some hints for a week or so and I had been desperately trying to ignore them.) AAMCO took care of everything including getting the car towed in. At every step of the way, there was clear and detailed communication. This is important because, obviously, getting to transmission or clutch internals is going to come with a cost. Even before the first major step (removing the trans.) they told me everything that was unique about my car in terms of clutch components and the flywheel. They were pretty certain that a hydraulic component (slave cylinder) had failed based on the inspection that they did. It turns out that that is a relatively inexpensive part, but they also told me quite clearly what else they might discover once they could see the internals. For each of these possibilities, they identified sources for the effected part for my specific car along with accurate price information. Once inside, they gave me a professional appraisal of the state of the clutch and left it to me to decide what to do with absolutely no pressure. The clutch failed just before a long weekend which delayed the delivery of the parts that I asked for. Within that constraint, they did the work as quickly as possible. The car was ready when they said it would be (actually slightly before.) And the final bill was pretty much as expected. (Actually off by about $100 in my favour.) It's not very nice having a major failure on the road, but these guys made it all better and made me feel good while doing it.
